Know Before You Go

Discover a new hobby, learn a new skill, or ace your assignment. We have a variety of equipment items that students can borrow or use in the library. Use our booking system to reserve your equipment in advance.

Our workshops offer a chance to explore tools and technologies, learn new skills, or unwind and destress. Registration is always free and all skill levels are welcome. Past workshop topics include 3D Printed Earrings, Animated GIFs, Visible Mending, Introduction to Soldering, and more. Register for an upcoming workshop.

Interested in bringing your class to the Makerspace? Meet with our Digital Engagement Librarian to learn more.

We have two Prusa 3D printers that are available for students at no cost. Usage is limited to one reservation per week.

Make a reservation to use one of our 3D printers.

If you’re interested in creating your own models, we recommend the TinkerCAD program. If you’d like to print an existing model, the Thingiverse is an excellent resource for 3D models.

The Wells Library Makerspace is a great place to start your makerspace journey at IU Bloomington! Our campus is home to a network of makerspaces that provide access to a range of digital fabrication equipment and expertise. Visit IU Makes to learn more.

We are located on the first floor of the West Tower of Wells Library, across from Writing Tutorial Services. If you enter from 10th street, make a right and you'll find us just inside the entrance to the West Tower.

Our Philosophy

We believe in process over product. The skills you develop, the feelings you experience, and the relationships you build in the Makerspace are all valuable, regardless of the finished product.
